I see some Sunoco sites are changing to Petro-Canada? What’s happening?
- The decision has been made to convert Sunoco retail sites in Ontario to Petro-Canada. By making this change, we will be in a better position to deliver a consistent, high quality offer to our customers in Canada across our entire network.
- We recognize the importance of our specialized fuel products such as Ultra 94 gasoline. We will continue to sell Ultra 94 at these sites, and introduce it to select additional Petro-Canada sites as well.
- Work to convert these sites will largely take place over the course of 2010. As individual Sunoco retail sites are converted, advance notice will be provided on site.
Can I still buy Ultra 94 and Gold Diesel at Sunoco sites? Will I be able to buy Ultra 94 and Gold Diesel at Petro-Canada locations?
- For the time being, Sunoco specific products and Petro-Canada specific products will remain at their usual locations.
- The same Ultra 94 we sell today will be sold at Sunoco sites that are converted to Petro-Canada and at select additional Petro-Canada locations in the future.

Is the Ultra 94 sold at sites that have been converted to Petro-Canada still the same fuel that I purchased at Sunoco?
- Yes, this specialized gasoline product is the same high quality fuel product that was available under the Sunoco brand. All of the performance and octane benefits remain unchanged.
Can I now shop at either Petro-Canada or Sunoco and have access to the same programs and products?
- Sunoco specific products and Petro-Canada specific products will remain at their usual locations.
- We look forward to continuing to provide all of our customers with the excellent service you have become used to.
Will my Petro-Canada cards work at Sunoco? Will my Sunoco cards work at Petro-Canada?
- Specific retail and commercial cards and products for either the Sunoco or Petro-Canada brands can only be used at their respective/usual locations. For more information, please call the number on the back of your card.
How does the merger impact me as a Petro-Points™ / Sunoco Performance Points member?
- For the time being you can continue to earn and redeem Petro-Points at Petro-Canada and Sunoco Performance Points at Sunoco locations.
- We will continue to accept Petro-Points at Petro-Canada sites and Sunoco Performance Points at Sunoco stations.
If sites are converting to Petro-Canada, what will happen to the Performance Points I’ve already accumulated?
- Sunoco Performance Points that our members have accumulated and continue to accumulate will be honoured.
- As Sunoco retail sites are converted over time, Sunoco will continue to honour all Performance Points earned and members can continue to earn and redeem points at participating Sunoco locations. If the Performance Points program is ever discontinued, your points can be transferred to Petro-Points redeemable at Petro-Canada.
Can I transfer my points today? Will they be automatically transferred?
- At this time, you cannot transfer points between programs.
- Both the Petro-Points and Sunoco Performance Points can be redeemed according to those individual programs.
- Points that our members have accumulated and continue to accumulate will be honoured.
Will Sunoco continue to offer EcologoM certified gasoline and EcologoM certified ecowash car washes? Will EcologoM certified products be available at Petro-Canada?
- Sunoco’s EcologoM certified gasoline and EcologoM certified ecowash will remain at Sunoco locations.
I recently purchased a Sunoco Gift Card. Will the outstanding balance be honoured?
- We will honour the outstanding balance of any Gift Card you may have purchased or received.
- Petro-Canada cards and products are redeemable at Petro-Canada sites and Sunoco Gift Cards at Sunoco sites.
I’ve heard that Suncor Energy must sell some of its retail sites. What will happen to these sites?
- As part of the agreement to merge Petro-Canada and Suncor, the federal government required us to sell 104 retail sites in Ontario.
- Suncor Energy is pleased to have reached an agreement with Husky Energy, where they will ultimately acquire 98 of the 104 sites we are required to sell.
