Podium success depends on many things. Having access to proper athletic equipment is one that can provide the needed competitive advantage.
In partnership with the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), we helped launch the Paralympic Equipment Fund in 2005. This grassroots initiative is designed to assist local and provincial organizations in delivering effective athlete development programs to the next generation of competitive athletes by increasing the availability of high-performance Paralympic sports equipment.
"Having the best possible equipment makes an appreciable difference in an athlete's performance, especially when competing at an elite level," said Patrick Jarvis, President of the CPC. "This program aims to help young, developmental athletes improve their performance and ultimately provide Canada with additional podium appearances on the world stage."
The Paralympic Equipment Fund will allocate $35,000 annually to community-based clubs, or provincial sport organizations, in good standing with a CPC Member organization.
This important initiative builds on our continued support of Paralympic athletes and focuses at the grassroots level with contributions directed towards beginner competition equipment.
